Mark Antoine Charpentier (1643 -1704), was a prolific composer of so many different styles of music, from oratorios to operas, symphonies to chamber music. He dominated 17th century French music in a way no other composer has, writing several masses and much other religious work. His choral compositions are still sung today and his most famous piece, the March, Prelude to a Te Deum is used by the European Broadcasting Union as a fanfare for their programmes. This arrangement is for modern wind quintet.
