Listen to an extract:
Johann Christian Bach (1735 – 1782) was the 18th child of Johann Sebastian Bach and the youngest son. When he spent time in Britain, living in the capital, he became known variously as the ‘London Bach’, the ‘English Bach’ or simply ‘John Bach’. He is noted for having influenced the concerto style of Haydn and WA Mozart and contributed significantly the new sonata principle. His Allegretto comes from his copious output of Chamber Music.
