Isaac Albeniz (1860 - 1909) was a Spanish pianist and prolific composer of many different genres. A lot of his work was for piano but he is best known for his orchestral works that have since been transcribed for classical guitar, which curiously, he did not write for. A lot of his work though, is incomplete which can be seen from a viewing of his music catalogue. This quintet is based on part of a larger number of pieces collectively known as ‘Espana’ containing Grenada, Sevilla and Mallorca.
