Vittorio Monti (1868-1922), violinist and composer established himself as the foremost mandolin player in Italy at the turn of the 19th/20th century. He wrote many works for the instrument, establsihed a mandolin group under his name and publsihed a mandolin method for stuents. As a composer, he wrote many ballets and operas. This is probably his most well know work and there have been many arrangements of it, mostly for violin and orchestra. This arrangement was written for the Principal clarinetist of the Gloucestershire Symphonic Wind Orchestra, a very accoplished player in her own right, together with GSWO accompanyment. Also available are the solo parts for clarinet and baritone sax duet, mirroring the superb playing of GSWO’s baritone sax player as well. However, if a different instrument needs to be used, a part (or parts) can be arranged for that purpose.
