Listen to an extract:
Jim Henson (1936-1990) and Samuel Pottle (1934-1978) were the creators of one of the most successful puppet shows television ever witnessed. Both worked in film making for many years and Henson is particularly remembered for his films, the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Pottle similarly, composed and wrote for Sesame Street and with Henson developed the idea for the Muppet show. Many people will be able to remember the characters they both created for the latter, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie bear and my favourite, Animal. They also involved show biz personalities who became integral parts of the show. Perhaps one of the finest moments from 1976 was when Rita Moreno sang ‘Fever’ with Animal backing her on drums. Worth a You Tube watch.
