John Rutter CBE, (b 1945) was a very active choral composer having written many Christmas pieces and longer works including a Gloria, Magnificat and a Requiem. Sadly, ME has slowed down his output.
The Shepherd’s Pipe Carol was written when he was 18 and still an undergraduate at Clare College Cambridge and published along with several other pieces.
This arrangement is an adaptation of Philip Cowley’s arrangement for brass quintet and is published with his kind permission.
