Gioachini Antonio Rossini (1792 – 1868), was a famous composer of 39 operas although he composed much other music. His operas include the Siege of Corinth and Cinderella however his music to the Barber of Seville and William Tell are perhaps his most recognisable. This quintet is an arrangement of the famous baritone aria, Largo al Factotum (here comes the general servant or words to that effect). This fits a wind quintet surprisingly well.
