Antonin Leopold Dvorak, 1841-1904, composer and brilliant violinist, he is best known for his symphony no 9, from the New World, especially the 2nd movement with its cor anglais solo. Apart from 9 symphonies and 9 operas, he wrote religious oratorios and a large amount of smaller chamber works. In amongst these are the Slavonic Dances, basing their themes on folk tunes from his own country, Czechoslovakia.
This is the 3rd movement of his Symphony no 8 arranged for windband.
