Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990), was an American composer, conductor, pianist and music educator and one of the first conductors from the USA to receive international acclaim. He wrote for many genres, including ballet, musicals, symphonic works, theatre music, choral, chamber music, film and works for the piano. There were three symphonies, music for Candide, a Mass and incidental music for the film On the Water Front. This arrangement is of the famous aria from West Side Story (a musical performed regularly all over the World) sung by Maria.
